Breaking Down the Holiday Collection: Vintage Cheer

If you’ve already stumbled upon my new Holiday Collection, you may have noticed that it’s my largest yet, and it’s broken out into three themes. I didn’t set out with this intention initially, but when I tried to narrow down my ideas, I realized I just couldn’t do it—I love Christmas too much!

So instead of making too many harsh cuts (and believe me, there were still quite a few!), I decided to split this collection into three mini sets. First up: Vintage Cheer!

These pieces are inspired by the whimsy and magic of Christmases in the past. When ornaments (and glitter!) were made of real glass and cookies and cakes were decorated with sugared fruit. Last November, I was in New York City and finally got to see John Derian’s shop decorated for Christmas. His assortment of ornaments, kitschy découpage decor, and botanical accents perfectly brightened my mood at the time, and so I built off of that feeling again this year.

Here are some of the images I used as inspiration for these new designs. I wanted it to be playfully colorful—like a box of vintage ornaments, a beautifully decorated cake, or a too-tempting to avoid candy store! I added in the feathers, mandarin oranges, and kumquats for unexpected pops of color, texture, and added curiosity. As always, everything here is still made with crepe paper, but it will keep you guessing!

And here is my interpretation of this holiday approach, as done in crepe paper botanicals. Like the other two looks, which I’ll introduce later this week, Vintage Cheer features a trio of crepe paper decorative trees, a snow globe, a wreath, a floral bundle, and a bonus item—which in this case is a glorious potted poinsettia.

This collection just launched on Friday, and is available to shop now. I’m still working on stocking up all of my inventory for the big day, but I’ll start shipping orders as early as next week for those who want to get a head start on decorating.

More information about timing for orders, shipping deadlines for gifts, and my only upcoming holiday event of the year, is all listed here!
