I'm so flattered to be included in another Richmond-area holiday gift guide. This one is loaded with great finds from local makers, including many that may sound familiar if you read my post from earlier this week. (Great minds think alike!)
Read MoreI love giving gifts! It's honestly one of my favorite things to do. I love coming up with the perfect idea or tracking down that perfect find, and nothing makes me happier than wrapping presents. (Of course—it's paper!)
For the past seven years, I've had some type of a product to sell this time of year. I'm grateful that I can make that statement—it's honestly all I've ever wanted to be able to do. To make things people want to buy and give each other as gifts.
Read MoreI'm not sure why I have this particular Madonna song stuck in my head, but it's better than the alternative—actual Christmas music in November. Nevertheless, the day is here, and it is a reason to celebrate—I'm happy to reveal the Winter/Holiday Collection!!
Just popping in real quick to let everyone know that you can find Paper Rose Co. on R•Home's 2017 Holiday Gift Guide!
Read MoreHappy November, everyone! I'm back from a long weekend in the Caribbean, where I celebrated my 40th birthday relaxing and recharging before the holidays kick into full force. I'm piecing the final details together for that launch, so stay tuned for an ambitious collection of gifts that I could not be more excited about!
In the meantime, I have a few more October Paperversary projects that are safe to reveal now, and I'm so excited to be able to share this one with you!
Read MoreUpon the release of the University of Richmond Magazine, I received an email from a fellow alumnae whose daughter was about to celebrate her first wedding anniversary. She loved the idea of gifting her something that would be more like a combination of a Paperversary bouquet and a study.
Read MoreThis week I got an email from Justin letting me know that it was safe to share the project we collaborated on and that his wife, Sabrina, loved her gift! Phew!
I loved working on this one! It was full of things I'd never tried before, a combination I never would have thought to put together, and made up of a palette I just can't get enough of these days.
Let's dig in!
Read MoreIn June I was invited to be featured in an upcoming issue of the Richmond Times-Dispatch Discover Richmond Magazine. I honestly hadn't read too much into it more than that before I agreed—of course! How flattering?!
In the weeks that followed I responded to their interview, sent some photos, and that was that. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I realized I was part of a list of 22 people named Richmond's "Cool and Connected," featured in the 2018 Annual Guide to Richmond. Talk about cool!
Read MoreYesterday my pal's John and Sherry gave fake plants their seal of approval—and lucky for me, they included my flowers in on that list!
Read MoreBy far the most frequent things I'm asked are: "How long does it take you to make a flower?" and "Do you use a template?"
So today I'm going try to answer both of these questions with a bit of a demonstration and an inside look at my process.
Read MoreKelly—one of my awesome former co-workers from the agency I mentioned last week—messaged me asking if I'd be able to help her with a housewarming gift for her Mom. She recently moved to Richmond and has been busy decorating her gorgeous new home. Kelly sent me a photo and told me a little bit about her Mom's style which is entirely cozy with warm neutrals like linen, rich browns, black, and a touch of turquoise.
Read MoreThis week, the Autumn issue of the University of Richmond Magazine arrives in mailboxes with my face on the cover. Obviously, I'm thrilled. But my feelings run much deeper than that. I tried to sum up my gratitude and realized I couldn't do so without sharing a little story. So what better time than now.
Read MoreThis is the last anniversary I helped celebrate in September, and it was a stunner! Stephen contacted me a little late in the game having just found out about my ability to recreate bouquets. I took one look at the gorgeous photos he sent (and was won over by his genuine excitement) and knew I needed to find a way to make this one happen.
Read MoreWhen I launched these studies in July, I made it my goal to post and list a new piece for sale every Friday. Well, today I'm breaking that streak! It's not that I didn't finish a study this week—I did! The difference is today I'm not going to sell it.
Read MoreI'm so excited to share another paper anniversary bouquet today. I wrapped this one up before Labor Day but needed to make sure the coast was clear before I shared more than the sneak peek I posted here a little while back. After how far in advance Kevin planned this surprise for his wife, Alissa, I'd hate to be the one to ruin it!
Read MoreEarlier this spring I conducted my first study with Lisianthus, and I fell in love. What's not to love? Bunches of Lisianthus are full of adorable trumpet-like buds and gorgeous blooms that I feel are a perfect cross between a rose and a tulip. Best yet—they seem to last for weeks in a vase! Whenever I see these at the market, I always pick them up. The problem with that is that they're only around for a short time during the year (or at least, they should be). Sounds like a perfect candidate for paper, right?
Read MoreOver the weekend I spent some time working on another paper anniversary bouquet! I can't wait to share this one, but it's going to have to wait another week or two so I don't spoil the surprise.
However, there's a reason I bring it up now…
Read MoreI'm gearing up for my second pop-in at House of Floralie this Saturday, and it occurred to me that I never posted a recap of the first event we did together, or really, how it even came about! So what better time than now? I love this shop with all my heart, so if you can make it to the event this weekend, this will give you a little idea of what you can expect. (You know, minus the Easter flair!)
Read MoreOver the summer I hit pause on the frantic pace the had seemingly been set for me over the spring. Markets, holidays, custom orders,—things were happening fast! That was incredible, but I was feeling a bit out of control and unfocused, and I needed a better plan.
So I decided to take a hiatus from markets (the humidity and heat aren't a good mix for my flowers anyway), and I focused on making. I launched my Studies I began posting here more frequently, and as a result, I've gotten more custom requests allowing me to focus on honing my craft.
This reset also enabled me to put together what I think is by far my best collection yet—one I'm so proud to launch today!
Read MoreIf it's seemed quiet this week—it's been anything but! Things are really picking up around here. I'm very close to posting the new fall collection, which I'm going to be documenting piece-by-piece here as so as it launches. I realized while I was photographing these pieces that more than anything these arrangements are one massive study. I truly believe it's my best work yet—and I'm excited to see it being so well received.
